MND-B Soldiers find 14 weapons caches, IEDs and body armor

BAGHDAD – Soldiers from Multi-National Division – Baghdad’s 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, seized 14 separate caches containing weapons, explosives and propaganda material during a combat operation in southern Baghdad Thursday.The unit found the caches while conducting Operation Commando Hunter which is targeting the al Qaeda network in the Shakariyah Triangle, southwest of Baghdad.Some of the seized weapons included three anti-tank mines, five anti-personnel mine, six rockets, a 22mm rocket tip, tools for fabricating improvised-explosive devices, 12 sticks of dynamite, a rifle, three rifle scopes, 30 partially completed IEDs, 525 pounds of bulk explosives, three fused rockets, 14 60mm rounds, 19 82mm rounds, 22 rocket-propelled grenade rounds, 44 IEDs, three RPGs, three AK-47 rifles, two PKM machineguns and various bomb-making materials.The Soldiers also seized a large amount of bomb-making materials, three uniforms, written documents and various types of body armor were found.
